Iran is the third biggest foreign trade partner of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan is the top trade partner of Iran’s Northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi. and the country is working on establishing a new border crossing for increasing the volume of trade with Iran. a local official said.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Ahmed Gurbanov voiced his country’s dissatisfaction with curbs in commercial ties with Iran. and said Ashgabat is determined to restore strength to its economic ties with the Islamic Republic.

Improving Tehran-Ashgabat cooperation is in the interest of regional development and progress.

A legal battle over the quality and price of gas imported by Iran from Turkmenistan continues at the International Court of Arbitration (ICA). the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said.

The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said that the gas case between NIGC and Türkmengaz Company was still being considered in the International Court of Arbitration.

Iran has won the first phase of the legal proceeding at the International Court of Arbitration (ICA) over the quality and price of gas it received from Turkmenistan in 2007. an informed source said.

Over the past two years. Iran provided credible evidence to the court which proved that Turkmenistan was not allowed to cut off gas supplies. thus it has to pay compensations to Iran.

The plant was built by Turkish company Rönesans and Japan'.s Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Natural gas export is among main sources for replenishment of the Turkmenistan’s budget.
