Siemens Gamesa to Supply Turbines and OTM for Albatros Offshore Windfarm

Siemens Gamesa will supply SWT-7.0-154 turbines and Siemens its compact OTM for EnBW’s Albatros windfarm
Following the contract for EnBW’s Hohe See offshore windfarm. EnBW has also awarded Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy a contract for the neighbouring Albatros windfarm.
The scope of supply for Albatros includes 16 direct-drive SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines on monopile foundations and grid connection via a Siemens offshore transformer module (OTM).
Siemens Gamesa will install both windfarms’ plants in parallel. Installation will start in spring 2018. The projects are located 90km north of Borkum Island in the German North Sea with water depths of up to 40m.
The combination of both projects offers synergies to EnBW in respect of planning. construction and operation.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s complete solution for Albatros – ranging from turbines to substation technology – will also help optimise the project. It will reduce risk and bundling installation works and using a centralised project planning process will create valuable synergies.
After commissioning in 2019. Siemens Gamesa will provide service and maintenance for the turbines for five years.
EnBW Albatros is the first German offshore wind power plant that Siemens will supply as a full-scope project and the market entry for Siemens’ compact OTM in the German market.
