Spanish Firm Given Permission for Massive Wind Farm in BRITISH Waters

The Spanish company Iberdrola has been given the green light to build a huge wind farm. set to be one of the largest renewable facilities in the world. just off Britain`s coastline.
The new offshore wind farm will join the one that Iberdrola is already in the middle of developing in the same area. off the coast of Norfolk. called `East Anglia One`.
The two wind farms will have a combined power of 2.000 megawatts. making it one of the largest renewable facilities in the world and the Southern North Sea’s biggest wind farm.
Iberdrola`s project has been dubbed “the most ambitious done by a Spanish company in the sector of renewable energies“.The company has received approval by the Department for Business. Energy and Industrial Strategy for the construction of the ‘East Anglia Three’ offshore wind farm.
Business and Energy Secretary Greg Clark granted ScottishPower. which is owned by Spain’s Iberdrola. planning permission to build the second phase of its East Anglia wind farm.The new project will have 172 turbines. which at 247-metres high will be more than twice the height of Norwich Cathedral. East Anglia’s tallest building.In April. Government insiders suggested The Renewable Energy Directive. which sets EU green energy targets. would be one of the top policies from Brussels that would be scrapped once the UK leaves the bloc.
ScottishPower Renewables hopes to start construction in around 2022 and have the project up and running by 2025.Keith Anderson. chief executive of ScottishPower Renewables. said: “With the support of a highly-skilled supply chain. East Anglia Three will further enhance the UK’s leading position in offshore wind.“No other sector ticks all of the boxes in its ability to support the government’s plans for rebalancing the economy and promoting economic diversity through the Industrial Strategy.“
East Anglia Three will be located 69 kilometres off the coast of Norfolk and it will supply energy to around one million homes
