Iraq Turns into 2nd Largest Gas Importer from Iran

A senior Iranian official announced that Iraq is the second largest importer of Iran`s gas supplies.
With the daily import of nearly 14 million cubic meters. Iraq has turned into the second largest importer of Iranian gas. Managing Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company Saeed Tavakkoli said on Saturday.
Since mid-June when Iraq began importing gas from Iran`s Naftshahr terminal. Iran has exported some 1.2 million cubic meters of gas to the neighboring country. he added.Tavakkoli underlined that Iran`s gas exports to Iraq can be increased by 25 million cubic meters a day.Turkey continues to be the largest importer of Iranian gas. importing a roughly 30 million cubic meters of gas per day from the country.Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Amir Hossein Zamaninia announced in June that Iran has resumed gas exports to Iraq after it was temporarily halted.
`Gas export to Iraq was resumed as of Wednesday (June 21).` Zamaninia said.
He noted that the process has begun with a volume of about seven million cubic meters and will ultimately reach 35 million cubic meters.
Iran has inked two separate contracts to export the product to Iraqi cities of Basra and Baghdad.
