Turkey. Russia to Mull Energy Issues

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak during his visit to Sochi. Russia Nov. 22 will discuss energy issues with Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak. the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend.
“The parties intend to discuss joint energy projects. including the Turkish Stream and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.“ the ministry said.
The discussions will be held within Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Sochi Nov. 22 where he will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Earlier it was reported that Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation hopes to obtain a license for the construction of the Akkuyu plant in Turkey no later than March 2018 to commission the first unit of Akkuyu plant on October 29. 2023 on the centennial anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
An intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Turkey on cooperation in construction and operation of the Akkuyu plant was signed in 2010.
Meanwhile. Turkish Stream gas pipeline project envisages construction of two branches of the main gas pipeline under the Black Sea. the capacity of each branch being 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas.
