Oman. the largest exporter of crude oil outside OPEC. will host the World Heavy Oil Congress &. Exhibition. one of the prestigious global energy forums. in September at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The three day congress and exhibition will be held from September 3-5 under the auspices of Ministry of Oil and Gas.
‘Contributing to 15 per cent of the sultanate’s overall oil production. heavy oil plays an extremely important role in Oman’s oil and gas industry’. World Heavy Oil Congress &. Exhibition 2018’s chairmen said in a statement posted on its website.
Dr Saleh al Anboori. director general management of petroleum investments at the Ministry of Oil and Gas. and Dr Ali al Gheithy. petroleum engineering function director at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). has been jointly appointed as the chairmen for the event.
The statement said. despite a challenging economic environment. PDO is spearheading innovation and continuing to identify novel EOR techniques to maximise production from four active heavy oil fields with particular focus on the Amal West field and the Miraah Solar plant. It is anticipated that by 2025 more than 23 per cent of PDO’s production will come from EOR projects.
Hosted under the theme ‘Transforming the heavy oil value chain’. the World Heavy Oil Congress &. Exhibition (WHOC) provides an invaluable platform for the global heavy oil industry to gather and learn from each other. the statement said.
