Iran Urges to Speed Up Iran-Armenia Electricity Transfer Line

Chairman of the Iran-Armenia parliamentary friendship group urged to speed up the completion of the third power transfer line to Iran in a meeting with the president of the Armenian parliament.

Ramazanali Sobhanifar made the remarks in a meeting with the president of The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ara Babloyan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia have had strong ties and have stood by each other in hardships“. Sobhanifar added while referring to the long and historical ties between the two countries

“The parliaments of Iran and Armenia can contribute to cementing bilateral ties in customs. investment. energy. transportation and commerce“. he added.

He called for expedition of implementation of the third electricity transfer line. investment in Meghri Free Economic Zone. and cooperation of the two countries in establishing hydro. wind. and solar power plants in Armenia.

“Cooperation in north-south corridor project. implementation of trade agreements. and elimination of road tax can further improve the ties“. he added. while talking about Iran`s readiness to increase gas export to Armenia.

Babloyan. for his part. referred to close historical ties with Iran and said. “Relations with Iran have always been of great importance and have not been affected by any regional issues“.

He added. “The two countries` relationships have always been stable and will not be subject to any changes in Armenia“.

He said he would visit Iran next year to expand trade ties.

“The two countries` parliaments can have collaborations in expanding energy infrastructure as well as trade cooperation“. he said. emphasizing the crucial importance of transportation. transit and customs for Iran and Armenia.

He added. “Iran can exploit the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) opportunities and strengthen relationships with EAEU and European Union (EU) through Armenia“.
