Iran Steel Exports Hit 5.8m Tons in 6 Months

Iran’s steel exports stood at 5.897 million tons during the past six months (March 22-September 21). the data indicated. 

The entity’s figures show that raw steel accounted for 61.8 percent of the overall exports while 18.5 percent of the exports comprised of ribbed round bars. 

Direct round iron exports also grew 62% during the mentioned period in comparison with the same time last year.

The development came as Iran`s steel exports have come under immense pressure after the imposition of US sanctions last year. 

In a related front on Wednesday. a senior Iranian official underlined a surge in Iran`s steel production. saying that the alloy`s output will hit 28mln tons at the end of the current Iranian year (March 19).

Head of Iran’s largest holding in metals sector. known as IMIDRO. Khodadad Qaribpour said that output of steel in the country had grown by around six percent between late March and early September. around 1.5 percent higher than the surge reported in global production.

We have had two to three million tons of growth in steel production chain each year. he said of a trend reported in Iran’s steel industry over the past years.

Speaking in a conference on metals in Tehran. Qaribpour said Iran’s total annual output of steel would hit a target of 28 million tons in March. when the current Iranian year concludes.
