Repsol Unveils 637-MW Solar Farm in Texas

Spanish multi-energy group Repsol SA has wrapped up construction of the 637-MW Frye Solar plant in the US state of Texas, it said on Thursday, hailing it as the largest solar photovoltaic project it has built to date.
Frye Solar is equipped with close to one million solar panels installed near the town of Kress, Swisher County. The solar farm is currently operating at 570 MW.
Repsol said it had already secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 89% of the plant’s output.
The company has 2,091 MW of installed and under-development capacity in its Texas portfolio, which besides Frye Solar includes the 629-MW Outpost and 825-MW Pinnington solar projects. All three of these projects are part of a pipeline developer by US solar and storage firm Hecate Energy, in which Repsol invested in 2021.
In New Mexico, Repsol has two 62.5-MW solar farms and a battery storage system in operation.
