Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy is looking into local potential contractors to deliver a 100-kW pilot floating solar project on Boyukshore Lake, it said this week.
The pilot project, named Knowledge Exchange and Technical Assistance on the Development of Floating Solar Panels System, is backed by the Asian Development Bank, which will provide financial and technical support.
Solar panels will cover 800 sq m (8,611 sq ft) of the lake’s surface.
In parallel with the 100-kW project, the ministry plans to calculate Azerbaijan’s total potential for floating solar systems and develop a feasibility study for a larger capacity plant on Boyukshore Lake’s surface, according to a press release.
