Turkmenistan cut off gas supplies to Iran on January 1. saying Iran should clear its outstanding debts.

Russia estimates Belarusian gas debt to be approximately $550 million.

Iran has imported natural gas from Turkmenistan since 1997 for distribution in the north of the country.

SOCAR produced 6.27 billion cubic meters of gas from the country’s offshore and onshore fields using its own funds in 2016.

Turkmenistan claims Iran has to pay $1.8 billion due payment for gas it received in 2007-2008. Iran denies the claim.

The pipeline will connect the South Pars/North Dome Gas field shared by Iran and Qatar with the Iraqi city of Basra.

Under the contract. the company will supply compressor trains each comprising a Siemens STC-SV vertical split compressor for the processing plants.
