The Islamic Republic of Iran exported petrochemical products worth $26 billion in the last Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022 to March 20, 2023), according to a senior official at the country’s Oil Ministry.
Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Morteza Shahmirzaei announced the figures in a press conference on Sunday, adding that some 65 million metric tons (mt) of petrochemical products were produced in Iran over the year to March.
Shahmirzaei said that the volume of exports of petrochemical products from Iran reached some 27 million mt over the past calendar year.
He said that domestic sales of petrochemical products in Iran had amounted to 12 million mt worth t $10 billion over the year to late March.
The official said Iran plans to increase its petrochemicals output to 80 million mt in the current calendar year (ending March 19, 2024).
