Non-oil exports of the Islamic Republic of Iran exceeded $36 billion over the past 9 months of the Iranian calendar year, a senior Iranian trade official announced.
The export director general of the Iranian customs organization, Ali Akbar Shamani, said on Tuesday the country’s non-oil exports have reached $36bln over the past nine months.
The official added this figure includes $15bln worth of petrochemical products.
The surge in foreign trade comes in the backdrop of the President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi administration’s agenda to expand economic relations with countries in the region and those across the globe.
In quitting the 2015 nuclear deal, former President Donald Trump restored sanctions on Iran as part of what he called the “maximum pressure” campaign against the country. Those sanctions are being enforced to this day by the Joe Biden administration, even though it has repeatedly acknowledged that the policy has been a mistake and a failure.
Iranian officials say US actions to disturb Tehran’s trade through sanctions have failed. They state Washington has been defeated in the maximum pressure policy against their country.
