Spain to Call for more Energy Ambition in EU at Brussels Summit

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will call for more ambition to implement the reform of the European electricity markets and reduce energy bills on Monday and Tuesday at the EU summit in Brussels, Spanish official sources told EURACTIV’s partner EFE.
Sánchez, together with other EU leaders, will participate in the extraordinary summit on Monday (30 May) and Tuesday in the Belgian capital, where European leaders will focus on the energy situation in Europe and the state of the war in Ukraine, EFE reported.
European leaders have convened for an extraordinary summit to analyse the war in Ukraine, its economic and social consequences, the security and defence of the EU, and energy topics.
Spain has asked for food security and the need to produce more fertilisers in the EU to be on the agenda.
The Spanish government will also demand that the EU take more steps to lower electricity bills.
