Baghdad Denies Iran’s Role in Iraqi Energy Minister Removal

The Iraqi government in a statement on Monday categorically denied Iran’s involvement in removal of the country’s energy minister.

The statement said that Iraqi Energy Ministry strongly rejects the fabricated news by certain regional Arab newspapers which have linked removal of the minister to political issues.

None of the reports and news released in the media outlets are true. the statement said. calling on all the media to take necessary care in publishing news.

Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office in the statement on the removal of al-Fahdavi had said that the decision to remove him from office was taken following critical situation of energy sector in the country.

Al-Fahdavi served as energy minister of Iraq since 2014.
