Russia’s Lukoil Visits Baghdad to Discuss Oil Projects in Iraq

Recently, a delegation from the Russian oil corporation Lukoil visited Baghdad to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to discuss matters about the company’s activities in the country.
Lukoil gave a thorough update on their current activities in Iraq’s West Qurna 2 and Eridu oil fields, emphasizing the advancements made in carrying out their development plans.
Al-Sudani reiterated at the meeting the government’s commitment to giving Iraq’s oil industry first priority in terms of expansion and development. He underlined the necessity of maximizing the nation’s production capacity in order to shift from the extraction of crude oil to the manufacturing of petrochemicals and petroleum derivatives.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need of concluding major development initiatives meant to increase Iraq’s oil income and guarantee long-term financial gains by diversifying the industry.
The discussion emphasized Lukoil’s strategic importance in Iraq’s energy sector as well as its ability to boost the nation’s economy.
