Iran Ready to Cooperate with Armenia in Energy, Transportation, Technical-Engineering Fields

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alan Simonyan on Saturday in Yerevan.
During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian pointed to Iranian government’s priority in cooperation with neighbors and emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia like other neighbors of Iran.
Amir-Abdollahian also stressed on the ways to expand bilateral relations with Armenia in political, economic and parliamentary fields.
He also noted that the opening of Iran’s consulate general in Kapan took place in line with developing cooperation with Armenia, stressing that Iran is ready to further expand in cooperation with Yerevan especially in energy, transportation, and technical-engineering fields.
He emphasized that Iran is ready for opening of Armenia’s consulate general in Tabriz.
Mentioning the volume of commercial and economic exchanges between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need to increase it according to the capacities of both sides.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, for his part, appreciated the principled positions of Iran regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia.
Heading a political and parliamentary delegation, Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday evening arrived at the Armenian capital of Yerevan to meet Armenian high-ranking officials.
