Iraq to Fully Take Advantage of Associated Gas by 2030

The Undersecretary of the Iraqi Oil Ministry, Basim Mohammed Khudair, stated on Saturday that Iraq will benefit from all available associated gas and achieve self-sufficiency in gas by 2030, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
Khudair also indicated that foreign companies expressed their desire to invest in associated gas-related projects.
The Iraqi official explained that there are plans to fully develop oil fields in order to increase oil and gas production capacity.
“American, Saudi and Qatari companies proposed to participate in projects related to associated gas in Iraq,” Khudair told INA.
The oil and gas official added that these are ongoing discussions with Aramco regarding the Akkas gas field, which has proven reserves of around 5.6 trillion cubic feet.
In May, it was announced that Saudi Aramco would develop the Akkas gas field to produce more than 400 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Khudair added that the Iraqi Oil Ministry is working according to planned steps to fully use flared gas in the country and reach self-sufficiency in gas by 2030.
