Ukraine’s transmission system operator GTSOU said on February 27 that it could not confirm there had been an accident at its transmission infrastructure in the east Kharkiv city, despite the Ukrainian government reporting earlier that day that Russian troops had blown up a pipeline there.
Ukraine’s state service of special communications and information protection shared on its Telegram channel earlier that day a video of a mushroom-shaped explosion. GTSOU said it could not confirm whether the explosion was related to Ukraine’s gas transmission system, noting that system pressure did not indicate a major disruption, although “visual assessment is limited” due to military operations in the city. The system is flowing gas as normal, it said.
Gazprom said separately that Russian gas transit through Ukraine was proceeding as usual, according to Bloomberg.
