Iran'.s gas export to Baghdad via Khanaqin pipeline began in late June this year. Iraq and Iran have signed two agreements to transfer gas to Baghdad and Basra.

The document was signed by First Deputy CEO. Gazprom Neft. Vadim Yakovlev and OIEC CEO Behzad Mohammadi.

Iran and Iraq initially signed an agreement in 2013 based on which the Islamic Republic would export natural gas to power stations around Baghdad through a 270-kilometer pipeline.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Tehran attended by Zangeneh. Total’s CEO Patrick Pouyanne and senior officials from China’s CNPC and Iran’s Petropars.

The deal is likely to test further Russia-U.S. chilly ties.
