Iran'.s gas export to Baghdad via Khanaqin pipeline began in late June this year. Iraq and Iran have signed two agreements to transfer gas to Baghdad and Basra.

Iran and Iraq initially signed an agreement in 2013 based on which the Islamic Republic would export natural gas to power stations around Baghdad through a 270-kilometer pipeline.

Under the terms of the deal. Iran’s Petropars is committed to finance the study phase of the project while Toyo of Japan will undertake financing of its executive phase.

Iran'.s installed electricity capacity is currently about 76.000 MW.

Upon the completion of the project. the refinery will raise its propylene production by 1 million tons per year.
