Iranian Minister of Energy called on Tajikistan to take more practical steps for the promotion and development of economic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iranian Ambassador to Dushanbe Mohammad Taqi Saberi expressed his country’s readiness and willingness for expanding bilateral ties with Tajikistan in areas of commerce and economy.

There are common economic interactions between the two countries. especially in fields of economy. road construction and energy.

Relations between the two countries should deepen to serve both nations as a basis for further development of relations.

Direct flight services between Iran and Tajikistan were resumed with Iranian airliner Varesh'.s flight from the holy city of Mashhad to the Tajik capital city of Dushanbe.

Tajikistan produces around 15% of the world’s total hydroelectric power capacity.

Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said that Tajikistan produces about 15% of hydroelectric power of the world'.s total capacity and that Iran is ready to provide transit facilities for the Tajik electricity exports.

In the second quarter of this year. the volume of natural gas imports from Uzbekistan was 3.5 million cubic meters.
