Natural gas deliveries to Ukraine from European Union countries fell 28.3% to 1.836 billion cubic meters in 2022 from 2.562 bcm in 2021, Ukrainian media reported, citing data published by Ukraine’s Gas Transmission System Operator (GTSOU).
This included 735.9 mcm delivered to underground storage facilities at the “customs warehouse” in 2022, compared to 107.4 mcm in 2021.
Ukraine’s gas transmission system received 632.019 mcm of gas from Hungary, 597.933 mcm from Slovakia, 511.208 mcm from Poland and 94.692 mcm from Romania in 2022, compared to respectively 2.198 bcm, 285.301 mcm, 78.587 mcm and zero received in 2021.
GTSOU also reported that European traders’ interest in the services of Ukraine’s gas transmission system and underground storage facilities has increased since the beginning of 2023 amid the decline of gas prices in the EU and storage facilities being 80% full.
Gas deliveries to Ukraine from EU countries totaled 118 mcm in the first nine days of January 2023, including 24 mcm delivered to the customs warehouse, compared to 249.1 mcm and 26.4 mcm, respectively, in all of December and 228 mcm and 191.1 mcm in November.
