Iraq Produces 300,000 bpd from Maysan Oilfields

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced on Friday that the oil production capacity from oilfields in Maysan governorate reached 300 thousand barrels per day, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The Ministry of Oil mentioned in a statement that this achievement is an important addition, especially as it comes in light of exceptional circumstances, economic and health challenges, and many crises facing oil production in the world.
The ministry clarified that it is interested in investing in associated gas – a form of natural gas found with deposits of petroleum, either dissolved in the oil or as a free gas cap above the oil in the reservoir – with an average ranging between 250-300 million standard cubic feet per day.
The ministry confirmed that the gas investment project will lead to the conversion of the energy that is burned into clean energy to supply power plants with dry gas, in addition to cleaning the governorate’s environment from polluting gases.
The ministry added that gas investment is one of the leading project in Iraq, indicating that the government and the Ministry of Oil pay great attention to developing oil fields in Maysan governorate.
